Ramadan Stalls

I decided to walk the talk yesterday afternoon and went to the nearby ramadan stalls to try my luck savouring the delicious food offerred.

I was lucky because the weather is fine and i had a field day spoiling myself with the numerous choices. Some guys have all the luck.

Among the specialities that caught my eyes are the ayam percik, ikan merah curry, ayam rendang, pucuk ubi and a kind of river siput whereby i had to use my mouth to suck out the flesh. Other delights like otak-otak daun nipah is also highly recommended. Another interesting food is the halal dim sum (1Malysia might be a reality after all).

You guys may be wondering where i got this stuff, knowledge wise. FYI, i took the initiative to turun padang to chat up with these enterprising entrepreneurs. They were equally surprise with my approach and are very enthusiastic in answering my queries. If i can do it, why not you guys. Do it now and make it a step towards realisation of 1Malaysia concept.

I have spotted a stall selling my all time favourite. I am going to be well fed and feasted with the ever popular nasi briyani with ayam rendang. Yummy!!!!

Oh!....not forgetting a glass of air bandung later (introduce to me by my old pal, roslan).

HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN

During this holy month of ramadan, i came across a friend of mine who is a government servant but had actually taken a month no pay leave for the simple reason of making himself some extra money to celebrate hari raya.

With the present ever increasing prices of almost all essential items, practically almost all ordinary people are feeling the pinch or seeing the monthly spending or groceries budget being tightened further. It is no longer easy for a family of four to survive unless both husband and wife are working. Even that, after deducting the monthly financial obligation, they can hardly survive.

Back to my friend, he is trying to make a good income at the ramadan market by selling the usual customary muslim food, like grilled fish, ayam golek and other goodies. As a friend, i wished him all the best and hope that he can have a comfortable festive celebration.

Other races also attend such market to savour all those tasty cuisines. Anyway, its only once a year and we could hardly let it slipped away. In the midst of svouring these delicious food, did we give a thought about taking this opportunity to socialise with them and help strengthened the friendship that we had for the past 50 years?

It is not always for us to mingle with each other and let us be honest about it. Wouldn't it be ice if we start doing it this time? Solidarity, friendship and understanding are the main ingredients towards achieving the government concept of 1Malaysia. Though it is still in the infant stage with sceptical view among we all.

To ensure harmony in our beloved country, let us take the initiative to do the needful and the first step. It won't take much of your time and will leave a foundation of solid ground for our future generation.

Meanwhile, i smell of some hot and spicy satay brewing towards my direction. Any takers????
Selamat berbuka puasa for all my muslim friends and business associates.

It's been a while now

How time flies. It must have been ages since i blog. Hardly had any time to blog since my time is occupied with my job. Am always on the move, meaning outstation.

However, had a pleasant surprise from joyce when she sms me saying that charm website had some photos. It took me about a week to check it out. The situation is bad judging from the photos. Even though mc took remedial action to rectified the situation but it will be better off to discuss once and for all the responsibilities and co-operation between mc and charm.

All this must be3 done in a professional manner. After all it is for the welbeing of country heights.

Someone had to take the lead and i hope it be better fast. Otherwise, at the end of the day, residents confidence will be eroded.

Let's do it fast......

Great to be back

Hah! It has been months since i blog and i had difficulties doing so right now. Am a bit rusty but it will do, i think.

Going through my previous blogs, i notice a comment from one Mr. Liaw who says that pot holes and rubbish is still a problem at Country Heights. I frozed for a moment because these problems were solved way back in January 2009. What happened after that. It could have been a miscommunication within the various interested parties.

However, i have invited him to contact the present charm chairman, Mr. Daniel who, i believe will be more than happy to assist in this respect. Hopefully all will be well.

Actually i have a lot of interesting experiences to share with charm and i planned to organise another round of yam cha session in due course even though the first one was disappointing. If this fail again, then i might blog and share my experience with charm or anyone else who are interested.

Being quite rusty, i will end my brief blog. Have a nice day, folks.

Chinese New year celebration?????

Chinese New Year is just round the corner but the usual thriving activities are glaringly missing. It is understandable as people is very worried about the dreaded RECESSION........ According to analysts, this might be the worst economic downturn in decades, matching the great depression.

We read from the papers that people by the thousands or tens of thousands will be lay-off this year alone sent shivers to workers, especially the breadwinners. The picture is gloomy and it is better to save as much as possible before the onslaught came. I hope we can overcome this economic tsunami, albeit the harsh way. Just crossed our fingers.

Back to the festive mood, hey, in fact there is no mood at all. People of chinese origins are more concern about their bread and butter rather than waiting for the celebration. With people jamming the banks to withdraw whatever money they have, it is imperative for them to be prudent. The customary reunion dinner suffer some setback when i heard from friends that they might give it a missed (for outstation ones). They do not want to overspend unnecessary.
In my case, i skipped because of my impending transfer back to kl. Therefore, i will be spending chinese new year in kk.

It will be a very modest celebration for most families and i intend to follow too. Traditions has to take a back seat this time as bread and butter is more important. I am sure our forefathers will understand our predicament.

Anyway god bless you all and A VERY HAPPY KONG HEE FATT CHOY.........

Wong Kwok, Danger in our swimming pool

Watch out, residents!!! This is the advice given to all those who wants to take a dip into our supposed standard sized swimming pool.

Last week during our usual rounds with daniel, we decided to visit the swimming pool. From the sight of it, the water is not fit for human usage. It is dirty with algaes growing from within the pool. Some sort of insects are visible under the water. We also noticed that certain tiles underneath the pool are missing. This is dangerous as it could hurt your feet.

We decided to ask the personnel on duty and he told us that it had been reported to management at least one month ago. We were taken aback, if it is true, then taylor hobbs or wong kwok should be taken to task for their inaction to rectify the problem. Do you need to have an accident to occur before action can be taken?

Just do something or else just get out from Country Heights. We won't be surprise if there is a decline in your collection.

Wong Kwok, Service Charges

At last, i received the service charges yesterday (Sat). Looking at the amount that i had to pay and in advance too for three months, I ask myself in view of the many problems since last year and coupled to the unco-operative attitude by taylor hobbs and wong kwok, i am reconsidering adhering to the statement requesting payment in advance.

I personally feel that taylor hobbs are not doing their job despite repeated reminders and requests to do so. The numerous complaints that i had forwarded felt to deaf years to a certain extend i could not hide my displeasure at their unprofessionalism attitude.

I feel that this is the right and only time that we as owners of country heights apartment should exercise our only avenue to inform them that WE ARE THEIR PAYMASTER and nobody else.
The fair play of "WE PAY YOU DELIVER" should be strictly respected and nobody can take this away from us.

For your information, i have not seen any sweepers doing their duties at my block since Dec 2008 even though they are supposed to be paid to do the job. All i see are owners/residents doing their bit because they are duty concious or simply they are put-off by the debris around the common area. Such simple and straight forward duties that taylor hobbs cant even provide and they have the cheek to ask for payment for work done.

Meanwhile, i shall kiv the payment until i have discussed with CHARM AJK.
